About Head Space

Welcome! I’m Gabrielle, owner and stylist at Head Space Hair Studio.

It was my dream to work doing what I love in a space that is as unique and special as each one of us. After a decade of working in big salons that didn’t feel like home, I took a leap and opened a shared salon studio in 2020. I didn’t have a full clientele, or any idea if I could make working independently work for me, but within months of moving into my first space I was thriving. Two years later I took another leap to move into my own studio, and Head Space was fully realized.

My services are inclusive, vegan & cruelty-free, and your appointment is totally customizable to your needs. Whether you love to chat, rest your eyes, listen to music, or watch a show - I am here to make your experience whatever you need it to be for you. I have zero tolerance for homophobia, racism, transphobia, or any other hate speech.

I am so fortunate to be able to work in a field I love and with such amazing people. My guests are the biggest part of why I love what I do so much, and the relationships I build with you are the most important aspect of my day behind the chair. My space is your space while we’re together. I laugh with you, cry with you, cheer you on, talk about politics and religion and aliens. I am not a salon that shies away from the uncomfortable. Our world is uncomfortable - while sometimes I am a refuge for peace, sometimes you just need someone to be frustrated at it all with. Head Space is not somewhere you need to put a mask on to be in. Whoever you are, whatever you need, I welcome you with open arms and hope I can help you feel good inside and outside.

I have taken training with Dresscode Project and am committed to continued learning on how to provide a safer space for all. Their mission statement is below.

“Our mission is to educate and empower hair stylists and barbers to give people haircuts that help them look the way they feel. We envision a world where every hair salon and barbershop is a gender-affirming, safer space for LGBTQ2S+ clients.

We want to provide education, events and support to, not only our member salons, but to hairdressers all over the globe looking to create safer spaces in their areas.

The Professional Beauty Industry has always been considered a safer space for people within the LGBTQ2S+ communities, but we still have a long way to go with education, acceptance and understanding and it’s our mission to make sure we continue forward momentum.”
